TITLE: Working and Using Tone: Figures in an Interior

In this workshop you will be shown how to use tone

to bring out features, strengthen the composition,

lose unimportant features and create a memorable painting.

A winter snow scene and a summer/autumn one are the lovely subjects for this watercolour workshop. You will study how to simplify and interpret simple landscapes of trees, skies, distance and foregrounds.

Let your creative instincs loose in this workshop! Working with Jamel you will create at least 4 or 5 paintings. Painting at speed with loose, expressive brushwork, exploring colour and form you will surprise yourself! Jamel will provide all references according to his inspiration on the day.

TITLE: Abstract and Mixed Media: Paul Klee and Friends: Working with Grids and Colour

During the workshop you will explore the work of artist Paul Klee and his contemporaties such as Roger Delaunay and Franz Marc. They used bright and vibrant colours but mainly would fragment the surface creating grids which broke up forms, figures and landscapes making the colour shimmer.

Marbling is an ancient form of visual art where the paint is laid on top of specially prepared water and transferred to objects. In this workshop you will be working with paper, silk and other fabrics. A fascinating and unusual workshop!
